Engagement and Outreach Lead at The Giving Lab
Serena is embedded in the community and thrives on bringing local people together to embrace and understand their own abilities and use their hidden voice to connect with others. Serena has been with The Giving Lab (TGL) since the codesign stage, and has worked in a number of roles including community engagement, outreach and facilitation. Currently as the Engagement and Outreach Lead, she encourages communities to come together in local spaces, to collaborate and share knowledge, and to create safer and stronger support networks in the community.
Serena has a First Class (Hons) BSc degree in Sociology from London South Bank University, which has had a big influence on shaping the delivery of her work with the community. She is deeply committed to supporting others and using her own experiences for others to realise their own potential, be creative and feel empowered.
Skills: Early years and young people practitioner, community engagement, problem-solving, facilitation, African & Caribbean centred suicide prevention training, catering and hospitality.
Interests: Social enterprise, advocacy, community development.
