FISCAL HOSTING

HOSTING GRANTS ON BEHALF OF COMMUNITIES

With their lived expertise, communities are best-placed to find solutions to the problems they experience, and at TSIP, we believe they should be empowered to do so. But the complexity and bureaucracy of the funding landscape can make it hard for volunteers, community organisers and grassroots groups to access the money they need. This is why we decided to offer fiscal hosting as part of our services at TSIP.

WHAT IS FISCAL HOSTING?

Fiscal hosting is where an organisation holds and distributes grant money on behalf of grantees. Taking on the bureaucratic, financial and administrative responsibilities through our sister company TSIP CIC, we’re able to remove financial barriers for those who are traditionally the furthest away from the funding landscape.

How does it work?

Using the Open Collective platform, we can guarantee transparent, easy and fast grant distribution, allowing communities to focus on the work without having to jump through the hoops that would traditionally slow them down. We offer tailored one-to-one support, including to those who are digitally less confident, to help take down any barriers to accessing funding. After applying to be hosted by TSIP, grantees can start claiming their expenses against their grant, and see the money in their bank account within a few working days.

Who is fiscal hosting by tsip for?

We’re currently hosting grantees from a variety of initiatives and campaign groups, primarily focussed on health equity, employment and climate justice work in South-London as part of the community-led fund The Giving Lab. Working with selected funding partners, we’re able to host groups and individuals that are part of our existing projects across these spaces. Part of a wider movement of participatory grantmaking to support those who’ve traditionally been the furthest away from the funding landscape, our fiscal hosting service can be a great tool for funders looking to:

  • Reach small community initiatives and break down the barriers to them not accessing funding when they don’t meet due diligence criteria.

  • Fund unconstituted groups or individuals that experience the highest levels of disadvantage.

  • Support grassroots organisations that are best-placed to make changes in their communities, but might lack the bureaucratic infrastructure to be eligible for funding otherwise.

  • Find a transparent, easy and open way of distributing grants that allows you to see and communicate clearly how it’s spent.

  • Contribute to radically transforming funding practices to be more inclusive and accessible, ensuring money flows where it’s needed most.
